ALENA
Her sound, a sweet but smooth sundae of gospel, original soul, neo-soul and jazz, sprinkled with a handful of inspiring lyrics, and a dash of illuminating lyrics, grab both the ears and hearts of listeners. March 2011 saw Alena's debut release of 'Changes' & 'Learn to Get By' remixed by Ron Basejam through ISM Records which charted at no 1 in the Juno download Nu Disco chart and no 2 across the overall singles chart in the first week, with 'Changes' featuring in a Greg Wilson NY set posted on Sound Cloud. As well as live performing, Alena has been busy in the studio working with amongst others, 'Yam Who?', a production duo on both the underground and commercial scene who have produced for Zero7, Amp Fiddler & Lizz Fields. Most recently Alena has collaborated with Funky DL, one of the leaders of the Jazzy Hip Hop scene. This is not the end of the story…. The end of the first chapter perhaps, but the tale of Alena 'brown girl' continues, coming to a set of speakers near you..."
FIDEL
Fidel is a singer/songwriter who burst onto the U.K scene with his own unique take on music. His music incorporates blues, jazz & reggae & touches on everyday life & politics from a humorous albeit serious point of view. His influences include Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Barry White & Luther Vandross. He performed at the Russell Simmons hip-hop summit in Los Angeles as well as having supported reggae legends Burning Spear & Buju Banton. Fidel wrote 4 tracks for U.K singer Hil St Soul's smash hit album 'Black Rose'(released in the U.S) & also previous album 'Soulidified'. Fidel also wrote the lead song for the feature film soundtrack 'Don't trigger' detailing the alarming rate of gun/knife murders amongst teenagers in the U.K. He has also written with award winning songwriter/producer Sasha Scarbec who co-wrote the 2005 international smash hit 'Your Beautiful' with U.K singer/songwriter James Blunt. Fidel's calm & easy going nature is contrasted sharply by his intense focus on making good music & he says "I smile everyday because I know it's only a matter of time before I get to share this music with the rest of the world".
SHERRY DAVIS
Her debut single, the Omar-produced Ain’t That Love provides a first part of the answer: the self-penned tune is not only the most haunting song you’ll hear all summer, but it also introduces the wider public to one of the best kept secrets of London’s underground live circuit. You’re about to hear a lot more of her. Sherry is already hard at work on her first EP, collaborating not only with said soul don Omar, but with several other top writer/producers on the soul music scene. So far the list includes Steve Chrisanthou and John Beck, the Grammy nominated production duo behind Corrine Bailey Rae, Incognito leader Bluey Maunick, hit songwriter Tim Hutton (Prodigy, Groove Armada) and LA based hit making producer Gregg Pagani (Charlie Wilson, LeAnn Rimes). And you can detect some gospel roots anchoring nearly everything that Sherry does. You’ll notice, maybe, touches of Niecy Williams’ mid-range in there somewhere, perhaps a little of Syreeta Wright’s vulnerability, and possibly a touch of Alicia Keys’ sass. In the end the Sherry Davis sound is all her own.
LUMIERE
Lumière’s style of music merges acoustic folk and slow soul with a penchant for storytelling. Her songs are stories, detailing how many times the heart can be broken and mended. Making each song her own story, she writes about others and herself, the lines blurred where each begins. Singing about lost loves and broken hearts, you can’t help but find Lumière’s songs are about you too as she serenades you, playing you earnest words from an earnest heart.
