Sherry is Caffe Nero's Artist of the Month

Through our music choice we hope to encourage a tranquil, mellow morning atmosphere, typically playing light classical or opera before 11am and then pick up tempo with Latin music or jazz which moves to acoustic and other cool genres in the afternoon.         If you want to listen to some of the new music we have recently selected just click on the radio at the top right of the page.

We’ve supported talented grass root musicians (many of whom haven’t even been signed yet) for many years now and we allow them to reach and develop an audience through Nero.
Our Artist of the Month holds intimate free of charge gigs in our cafes across the UK, has exposure in our cafes via leaflets and posters and of course we play their music every afternoon during their month!

There is always something interesting and exciting happening with our music programme so check out what’s going on at the moment below

Sherry Davis

Artist of the month

About 18 months ago I was invited to go to a small independent label based in North London to hear a new artist. Now I get invited to hear a lot of music and the thought of trekking up to North London did not exactly fill me with joy but for some reason I felt compelled to go and I duly arrived in the depths of Kentish Town. I was ushered into an office with a worrying number of gold discs attached to the office walls and there in the corner was a beautiful, smiling lady sitting at a piano. Slightly reticent at first, her music and voice proceeded to fill the room with great, soulful music which could not fail to impress. One of the best meetings I have ever been to and I am pleased to say she agreed to work with Caffe Nero and a live tour was duly planned.

Sherry Davis has been honing her vocal skills from a young age, thanks in part to a childhood love for Mariah Carey but it’s only in more recent times that Sherry has become a familiar face on the live scene. Under the management of Blaque Music Productions, her sound draws on her love for all things musical; soul, indie and classical all in the blend. Currently listening to Emeli Sande, Michael Kiwanuka and Corrinne Bailey Rae, it’s Jill Scott and D’Angelo – real nu-soul vibes - that have inspired most throughout her teens years.

As keen on playing the piano or keys as she is singing or writing, you get the definite feeling Sherry’s just warming up. Born to a 70’s soul girl and an old skool reggae-loving father, it was in church that Sherry’s vocal potential was realised. Dedicating many years to the art of gospel, four years ago Sherry enjoyed a stint with the London Community Gospel Choir. With Diana Ross and Luther Vandross filling the rooms of her childhood, having gone on a personal journey that’s seen her leave church behind to frequent the likes of the Jazz CafĂ© and Ronnie Scotts, the girl who’d given once up on her solo dream has now nailed her debut EP and a whole lot more.

Sherry has just released an EP ‘Star Crossed Lover’s’ and will be playing tracks from this during her Caffe Nero tour. Produced by Tim Hutton (The Prodigy, Groove Armada) the EP is the perfect introduction to this great musician and a star in the making. Catch her whilst you can in the intimate atmosphere of a Caffe Nero.
